More than 120 parents learned this week exactly what their sons and daughters are learning at the Live Oaks Career Campus of Great Oaks. Parents were invited to the school for the annual Bring Your Parent to Lab Day on February 14.
The adults had the chance to experience a typical school day for students, attending lab classes and getting a hands-on taste of the career education that their children have chosen.
Parents were seen machining parts in Pre-Engineering Technology, designing car advertisements in Interactive Media, learning about DNA extraction and phlebotomy in Health Technology, driving a bobcat in Heavy Equipment, and grooming dogs in Animal Science and Management.
“Live Oaks students were proud to teach their parents more about their chosen career and have them experience their typical school day,” said career specialist Sarah Taylor.
Live Oaks offers 17 career programs for high school juniors and seniors.
