Washington HS students take DECA competition by storm

|
Approximately 280 students from 14 different chapters around Central Ohio competed at the DECA District 15 event on Wednesday, February 3rd at COSI in Columbus, to earn one of 70 spots that qualify students to move on. The Washington HS/Great Oaks DECA chapter earned ten of these spots, and all students participating from Washington came home with a trophy. Students moving on to state competition will travel to the Columbus Convention Center on March 19th and 20th. Washington High School, in partnership with Great Oaks offers a new curriculum to students interested in learning more about the world of business. Students enrolled in the High School of Business™ program are members of DECA; an organization that assists in developing leadership, social, and civic skills. Members have this opportunity to compete at a district level in an effort to qualify for state level competition in twenty five different areas of Marketing and Business. Students must prepare and participate in a role-play situation and/or interview as well as taking a comprehensive test. This year marks the best record yet for Washington HS DECA!
